Tonight I am starting an 8-week adult ballet class. I started taking ballet classes in first or second grade and gradually added jazz and tap. I stopped tap after a few years but continued with ballet and jazz until I was 16. Junior year, I went through my "finding myself" phase and decided to stop dancing. Nearly 10 years later, I have decided to pick it up again. I used to love dance and it was a huge part of my life for so long, so I am excited to get back into it.
I went on Saturday to buy ballet shoes, tights, a leotard (that was fun, let me tell you...things don't look the same as the did when I was 15!), and a cute tank. I am ready!
I wanted to scan some photos of me as a kid in my dance costumes but didn't have a chance to dig them out at my mom's. So here are some of my favorite Degas', for now. :)

That should be a lot of fun for you Jaime! I didn't take dance as a child, but I wanted so badly to learn, so I took hip-hop for 6 months and jazz for 2, and it was a cool experience. It's nice to have something like that planned, it helps break up your work week and adds a little variety to your routine!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! My mom is a ballet teacher and i think dance is so beautiful
ReplyDeletethat's fantastic! kudos to you for getting back into it. I always wished I was one of those cool ballet girls but I took it a few times and never really got the hang of it. (umm, klutzy anyone?) Hope it goes well, keep us updated! XOXO.
ReplyDeletewhoaa I always love love love ballet, it's so beautiful the dance and of course the dancers :) ♥
ReplyDeleteoh I think it's so wonderful you're picking it back up again! I did ballet when i was younger and stopped when I was about 12. I'd love to do it again though. Have so much fun !!
ReplyDeleteLooove Degas - who wouldn't find these images beautiful? He was such an incredibly artist, one of the best of the Impressionist era...
ReplyDeleteI did ballet when I was about 11. Didn't last long. I had great turnout, but the girls used to make fun of me for being tall and having big boobs, so I dropped out after a while.
Have fun!!
