On Father's Day this year, my stepmom and brother came up with the brilliant idea to go on a family canoe trip on the Ipswich river (on Northshore in MA). I think you can tell if you read my blog, I am not the most outdoors-y... lol...but I was up for the challenge, and gorgeous weather was in the forecast.
Let me tell you, the 3 1/2 hour trip was hard! My arms & shoulders worked like they hadn't in a long time. I have to admit my team (my Dad and I) had a rough going, hitting the side/bushes a few too many times...it took Dad a bit to understand how to steer us. :)
We bought 2 disposable cameras and documented it all.
(if you notice here, my hands are raised in sheer happiness and victory to be done lol)
Blogging last year: What I'm Wearing Wednesday...in my new apt.

It looks fantastic trip! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks tiring, but also how rewarding. What a great trip!

how fun! what a cool idea. the pics are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy times! I love canoeing but you're right, it is really hard. In high school, we were required to learn canoeing because we were one of 3 high schools on a river. It was awesome.
ReplyDeletethat looks like SO much fun! your dad must have been thrilled.
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like so much fun. Awesome pics..hope you all had a blast!
ReplyDeleteI bet your dad loved this! Great idea to bring disposable cameras :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect Fathers day!!!!! How fun and hilarious, good for u for going for it. I like the ruffage too, looks swampy and foresty- an interesting combo.
ReplyDeleteI see the raised arms of in that photo. But the fact you did the whole trip is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a Father's Day outing, I love getting active with my family but I SUCK at canoeing lol. I can never steer it right and end up going in circles. Kayaking I can do though. Glad you had a fun trip, love the pics, the weather does look fabulous.
ReplyDeletethis looks sooo fun!! i want to do this sometime! i can imagine after 3 hours how sore your arms must have been though!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an interesting change of pace! We went kayaking in Hawaii and it was tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteLooked like a great day :)
ReplyDeletethat looks SO FUN and like such a perfect activity for fathers day!
ReplyDeleteI've never been canoeing, it seems so hard! So smart to bring disposable cameras along to take pics though!

This look like it was such a great time. I love these calming photos of beautiful nature in the background.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This reminds me of when I went canoeing for a school trip in middle school. OUCH. I was so sore! Lol.
ReplyDeleteIt might have been painful and tiring, but it looks like it was a great way to spend time with your family!
I love this...must have been a great bonding experience.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such fun! And yes, canoeing is hard! The Mr. and I went on a much longer than expected canoe trip in France a few years ago. The river was slow, and didn't help us at all. I though that my arms were gonna fall off! :) Have a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! My boyfriend and I are going to rent Kayaks on the Charles. Considering it's in Cambridge, I can't imagine it will be quite as outdoorsy, but it should be a good time. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a lovely trip :) xx
ReplyDeletelove that idea! Even though I cried on my last kayak outing because the wind was blowing me to shore and i could not control it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun, and perfect for summer! Hahaha your poor dad, I'm glad he got the hang out it ;) I miss using disposable cameras, these pictures turned out wonderful :D
