Father's Day Canoe Trip

On Father's Day this year, my stepmom and brother came up with the brilliant idea to go on a family canoe trip on the Ipswich river (on Northshore in MA). I think you can tell if you read my blog, I am not the most outdoors-y... lol...but I was up for the challenge, and gorgeous weather was in the forecast.

Let me tell you, the 3 1/2 hour trip was hard! My arms & shoulders worked like they hadn't in a long time. I have to admit my team (my Dad and I) had a rough going, hitting the side/bushes a few too many times...it took Dad a bit to understand how to steer us. :)

We bought 2 disposable cameras and documented it all.

What I'm Wearing Wednesday: bridal shower #2

This past Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for my oldest friend who is getting married in September. The other bridesmaids and I had been hard at work for months to plan this one! Sadly, the weather didn't hold up for sitting on the deck, but the afternoon went off without a hitch.

Go Greek

I stumbled upon these handmade, authentic Greek sandals on frolic! blogger's post on Babble.com. Ananias Sandals on Etsy sells several styles of women and men's leather sandals. I was floored with the craftsmanship, details, and the price. How cool that you can get these sandals from Greece for under $40 (that includes shipping!)? My favorites are these natural lace ups (sadly sold out but hoping she'll post more) and these lace ups with metal detailing. Loving the cross body bag too!

Another one that is so clever!

Who watches True Blood? What'd you think of last night's season premiere? I thought the episode started out quite bizarre, but ended well and set up some great plotlines for the season. I was so shocked about Bill (the king- gasp!) and Tara (or Toni). I can't wait to see what this season brings!

Liquid Gold & Neutrals

Both Naomi Watts and Gwyneth Paltrow have worn gilded beauties by Calvin Klein at the CFDA Fashion Awards and the Oscars, respectively. Both frocks fit the ladies perfectly and are accessorized well. With such a statement making dress, neutral shoes and minimal bling are key.

To get this look, I found a few dresses to don for summer parties. Keep the shoes neutral and add a bronze, smokey eye to complete the look.

Summer Snapshots is back again!

Happy first day of summer! Last year I started a fun series called Summer Snapshots, where I invite you readers to send me pictures of your snapshots of summer, all summer long. I am doing this again; I loved seeing and sharing your photos.

Here's how it works: snap a photo of anything in this summer, at any time, with any camera (phone or digital or Polaroid or anything!) and email me with a short blurb/story about the photo. It will be featured here! This will go on all summer long until Labor Day, and I will post photos as the summer goes on too.

I spotted these hydrangeas on Newbury Street en route to a spa appointment with my stepmom this past Saturday. The colors popped and the flowers themselves were just so perfect, I couldn't help but stop and smell them.

BMW Goes Pop

The pop greats are known for their famous sculptures, installations, & canvases, and now they can be known for their famous cars. 17 pop art BMWs are on display at the BMW Museum through September 17 in Munich, Germany. From the first car made in 1975 to the last car made in 2010, each one was created by a unique mind and artist. Surprisingly, Warhol's car was the only one that was actually painted by the artist. The other 16 were conceptualized and designed by the artists but executed by others.
