Love these- a more adult tie-dye.
Have a great weekend and Happy Easter (if you are celebrating)!  I must be feeling very creative with all these DIY projects that are inspiring me this week.  Something else inspirational? It's going to be in the 50s on Sunday! Bring on spring...thanks, March, for going out like a lamb, and let's hope the lion doesn't come back!

Sanibel Island, Florida was one of our annual vacation spots as a kid. My mom is midly completely obsessed with shells, and this Gulf-side island is a seashell capital of the world.  Our collections year over year are proudly on display in all rooms of my mom's house- and now my apartment too.

Sanibel's sunsets and beaches are great child- & teen-hood memories of mine, so it's no wonder that I love Tory Burch's spring collection pattern "Sanibel".  The colors, so fresh & Floridian, remind me of those Sanibel waters.

Sip, sip, slurp!

Sip, sip, slurp!
For entertaining, I love the idea of special straws (see recent St. Patty's ones) for sipping and slurping fun drinks.   These Soda Fountain Straws from Terrain are great for any occasion and any color, but how about trying out some quirky patterns- I especially like the birch ones!

Update: Just spotted lots of straw goodies at Shop Sweet Lulu - check 'em out.

True Romance

I am not a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, but Sunday night, friends convinced me to watch his first written film, True Romance.
Despite a few bloody scenes, I was surprised to enjoy it and walked away with this opening quote stuck in my my mind...
I had to come all the way from the highway and byways of Tallahassee, Florida to MotorCity, Detroit to find my true love. If you gave me a million years to ponder, I would never have guessed that true romance and Detroit would ever go together. And til this day, the events that followed all still seems like a distant dream. But the dream was real and was to change our lives forever. I kept asking Clarence why our world seemed to be collapsing and things seemed to be getting so shitty. And he'd say, "that's the way it goes, but don't forget, it goes the other way too." That's the way romance is... Usually, that's the way it goes, but every once in awhile, it goes the other way too.
The early 90s music and leading lady (played by Patricia Arquette) Alabama's style has kept me inspired too....her red lipstick, leopard jacket, and blue mirrored sunglasses.

Anyone else seen this movie?  Are you a Tarantino fan?

TOMS: Monogrammed

You can now monogram your TOMS!  I love this striped "espadrille" style for summer.  Check out more styles/colors & order at Neiman Marcus.
PS: I also like the idea of doing white as a bride, with your new monogram!

the grey duchess east/west tote - fresh for spring/summer and good for work

the navy striped shirt key fob - a little Parisian

the crab jute pouch - all 4 are cute!

Collage: The Ides of March

March is the weirdest month of the year to me. It's warm some days, snowing the next. Spring is right around the corner, so close, yet so far, as we are expecting another snow storm tonight into tomorrow. I am itching for stowing my boots & parka for light, flowy dresses & sandals. My friends and I rented a Newport house for the summer, so June really can't come fast enough!

Anyone else feeling an itch for winter to just be done?

“I will always pay attention to the details.”
Ted Baker asked me to participate in their #TedBakerLines Instagram campaign to announce their Spring/Summer 2013 collection.  Ted Baker reached out to their social media followers & bloggers  asking them to Instagram a picture inspired by & including a special line for each day this week.  Mine is above.  From the Ted team on the new collection:

Ted’s never been a stickler for the rules of etiquette.
When people talk about ‘the done thing’ and the correct ways to behave, he’s always raised an eyebrow.  For SS13 Ted opened his Finishing School, a sartorial establishment where deportment is not that important and where old-fashioned manners and exceptional style always top the class.
A wise owl once said, “Be the exception, never the rule.”

Thanks to Ted Baker for including me! See all the #TedBakerLines from this week by searching this hashtag and following @TedBaker_USA

PS: My faves from the new collection: "Waalton" Mini Evening Bag in mint, "Buppley" Geometric Draped Dress, and "Lavaa" Colour Block Midi Skirt

Borrow from the Boys: Jack Spade Watches
Jack Spade, brother company to Kate Spade, just released a watch collection. I was tempted when I saw these trendy, casual watches, either color dipped or grid print.  Plus, they are under $100 each!
Check out the full watch collection, for him or you, on Jack Spade.

Scrabble & Word Search aren't just games anymore, they are quirky patterns for accessories this spring. Pick your word with kate spade's iPhone case or Madewell's scarf.
